Montblanc Patron of Art Homage to Scipione Borghese Limited Edition 4810 Fountain Pen (M Nib) (Ref. 115973)
Created as part of Montblanc’s celebrated Patron of Art series, the Homage to Scipione Borghese Limited Edition 4810 was introduced in 2017 in tribute to Scipione Borghese, the influential Roman collector and patron whose support helped shape the careers of masters including Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Caravaggio. Limited to just 4,810 examples worldwide, the edition translates the architecture, sculpture and decorative arts associated with the Borghese legacy into one of Montblanc’s most elaborate writing instruments.
The fountain pen combines a solid granite barrel with a ruthenium-coated brass cap and fittings, drawing inspiration from the richly coloured marble interiors of the Galleria Borghese. Classical ornamentation across the cap and cone references motifs associated with the celebrated Borghese Vase, while the sculptural clip evokes the trees of the Villa Borghese gardens and is crowned by a smoky quartz gemstone.
At its heart is a piston-filling mechanism paired with a handcrafted 18-carat / Au750 gold nib, with this particular example fitted with the desirable Medium (M) nib. Montblanc individually numbers each piece within the 4,810-piece production, further reinforcing the edition’s position as a true numbered collector release rather than a regular-production writing instrument.
This exceptional example is numbered 4700/4810 and remains brand-new, unused and double factory sealed. Neither the outer protective wrapping nor the internal presentation packaging has been opened, preserving the pen exactly as supplied. The original factory label identifies the piece as Montblanc Ref. 115973, with Medium nib specification and Au750 gold construction. Its untouched condition is particularly significant for a discontinued Patron of Art edition dating from 2017, where most surviving examples have long since been opened, handled or used.
