Montblanc Meisterstück Solitaire Stainless Steel Classique Ballpoint Pen (Ref. 23164) from Early 2000's

The Montblanc Meisterstück Solitaire Stainless Steel Classique Ballpoint Pen, reference 23164, is a discontinued interpretation of the Maison’s most recognizable writing instrument, replacing the traditional black precious resin of the Meisterstück with an entirely metallic construction. Produced for only a short period in the early 2000s, the Stainless Steel Solitaire has since become a considerably less common member of the Meisterstück family. 

Executed in highly polished stainless steel, both the cap and barrel give the Classique silhouette a distinctive weight and almost architectural appearance. The monochromatic finish is complemented by platinum-plated fittings, including the elegantly shaped Montblanc clip and the characteristic three-ring band surrounding the centre of the pen, engraved with the Montblanc Meisterstück signature. The cap is crowned by the iconic white Montblanc emblem, while the writing system uses the familiar twist-action mechanism of the Meisterstück Classique ballpoint. The individual serial number is engraved into the clip ring.

Unlike the more familiar resin Meisterstück models, the Solitaire Stainless Steel gives the design an almost seamless silver appearance, with the reflective polished surfaces allowing the proportions and detailing of the classic Meisterstück form to take centre stage. Its relatively brief production period also makes reference 23164 particularly interesting today as a discontinued variation from an earlier generation of Montblanc writing instruments.

This exceptional example is brand-new and unused, preserved as a complete original set despite being more than two decades old. It is accompanied by its original Montblanc presentation box, outer packaging, accompanying documentation and Montblanc cleaning cloth. The outer packaging displays storage wear consistent with its age, while the writing instrument itself remains beautifully preserved — an increasingly difficult configuration to find for this discontinued Meisterstück Solitaire reference.
