Montblanc Meisterstück 145 “Hommage à Frédéric Chopin” Fountain Pen with Platinum Finishing (Ref. 2859)

The Montblanc Meisterstück 145 “Hommage à Frédéric Chopin” is a distinctive presentation of one of Montblanc’s most recognisable writing instruments, created as a tribute to the Polish composer Frédéric Chopin. Based on the Meisterstück 145, also known as the Classique fountain pen, this version combines the traditional black precious-resin body with restrained platinum-finished detailing, giving the pen a particularly elegant and formal character.

The cap is crowned by Montblanc’s white emblem and fitted with a platinum-plated clip, while three platinum-plated rings encircle the cap, the central band carrying the engraved Montblanc Meisterstück signature. The proportions are slimmer and more compact than the larger Meisterstück 146 and 149, making the 145 one of the more refined and understated members of the Meisterstück family.

At its heart is a handcrafted 14K gold nib with platinum inlay, with this example fitted with a Medium nib, as indicated by its original presentation label. The pen uses a cartridge/converter filling system, allowing it to be used with either Montblanc ink cartridges or a piston converter.

What makes this example particularly special is the complete Hommage à Frédéric Chopin presentation set. The pen is accompanied by its dedicated black presentation box, decorated with Chopin’s portrait, signature and piano-key imagery, together with the original Montblanc Philharmonia of the Nations “Hommage à Frédéric Chopin” compact disc. The CD contains performances of Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor, Op. 11 and Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor, Op. 21, under conductor Justus Frantz.

This particular example is brand-new and preserved as a complete full set, retaining the pen, dedicated presentation packaging, original CD and accompanying materials. Its unused condition and complete Chopin presentation make it considerably more appealing than a loose Meisterstück 145, particularly for collectors interested in Montblanc’s music-related presentation sets.
