CIGA Design “Blue Planet II” U Series Stainless Steel Automatic Watch (43 mm)

A striking example of contemporary watchmaking, the CIGA Design Blue Planet II stands apart through both its engineering and artistic vision. Designed around the concept of Earth itself, the watch replaces traditional hands with a sculpted three-dimensional globe, transforming the dial into a miniature planet that rotates to display the time.

The polished 43mm stainless steel case houses an automatic mechanical movement developed by CIGA Design. Time is indicated through an innovative system in which the globe rotates within the dial, aligning with the minute track to display the current time — a poetic interpretation of the Earth’s constant motion.

Finished in deep ocean blue with raised metallic continents, the dial gives the impression of looking at the planet from orbit. The watch is paired with a matching blue rubber strap, offering both comfort and modern sport elegance.

In 2021, the original Blue Planet captured the attention of the global watchmaking industry when it competed against 208 watches from around the world at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) — widely regarded as the “Oscars of watchmaking.” Competing alongside historic maisons such as Patek Philippe and Piaget, CIGA Design ultimately won the Challenge Watch Prize, solidifying its place on the international horological stage.
