Preserved vintage piece

This extremely rare Cartier automatic watch winder from the 1990's is crafted as an elegant double-door cabinet in the maison’s signature red grained leather, finished with hand-applied gold frieze detailing and a sculptural gilt clasp. The faceted base and finely proportioned silhouette reflect Cartier’s historic approach to functional luxury, where even utilitarian objects were designed as display pieces. Opening the doors reveals a softly padded cream leather interior, stamped Cartier Paris, and fitted with the original single-watch rotating mechanism and cushioned cuff. The watch secures onto the cuff and slides into the circular aperture, allowing the winder to gently rotate and maintain an automatic movement while stored.

Produced in extremely limited quantities and never widely retailed, Cartier watch winders of this type were offered only to select clients and boutiques, making surviving examples exceptionally rare today. Very few appear on the market, and even fewer remain complete with their original components intact. This piece shows light, honest signs of age consistent with careful preservation, while retaining strong colour, crisp gold detailing, and full functionality.

The winder is accompanied by its original Cartier outer box, further underscoring its collectability and appeal to serious Cartier collectors.
