A contemporary revival of Seiko’s iconic 1969 Speedtimer, the SSC819 stands as one of the most balanced and sought-after models in the modern Prospex chronograph collection.

Crafted in stainless steel with a black tachymeter bezel, the 39mm case delivers classic proportions inspired by vintage racing chronographs. The black dial is contrasted by subtly toned dark purple chronograph sub-dials, creating depth and symmetry while maintaining exceptional legibility. Applied hour markers, luminous hands, and the Prospex “X” signature complete a design that feels purposeful and refined.

At the heart of the SSC819 is Seiko’s in-house V192 solar chronograph movement. Powered entirely by light — whether natural sunlight or indoor lighting — the watch converts light energy through the dial to charge an internal rechargeable cell. Once fully charged, it can operate for approximately six months without further exposure to light. Unlike traditional quartz watches, no routine battery replacement is required, offering long-term convenience and reliability with minimal maintenance. Simply wear it regularly or place it near a light source to keep it fully powered.
