Monchard Étape Classic (Ref. ET25M1S) Limited Edition (244/300)

Monchard is an independent Swedish watch brand building dress pieces that draw from mid-century European design, and the Étape is their centrepiece. The rectangular tank-form watch that references the golden era of the dress watch without imitating it. This piece is No. 244 of a limited edition of 300.

The 25mm case is polished stainless steel in a portrait-orientation rectangle, with a crown positioned at 3 o'clock. The dial is the defining feature: a warm salmon field divided into a raised central hobnail guilloché panel and a smooth outer register carrying Roman numerals. The contrast between the two textures creates depth and dimension rarely seen at this tier. Blued sword hands complete the composition.

The case back is vertically fluted — a detail that evokes vintage dress watches — with the reference (ET25M1S) and individual edition number (244/300) engraved directly into the steel. 

The bracelet is a five-row beads-of-rice in full-polished steel, secured by a deployant clasp engraved "MONCHARD SWEDEN." It is a considered choice: integrated in proportion, formal in character, and more substantial in feel than the case size alone would suggest. The watch runs on a slim quartz movement — appropriate for a profile this elegant, and reliable for daily wear.

At 300 pieces total, the Étape rarely appears complete and unworn.
